Zebrabiores
The ZebraBioRes Group is devoted to basic and translation research in biomedicine, toxicology and nanomedicine. Our group collaborates with different institutions and companies developing interdisciplinary approaches to solve biological problems.
Genomics of aquatic species with interest in aquaculture is other of our targets, mainly if it is focusing with sex related genes.
Zebrafish is an emerging animal model that has potential as a screening tool due to its advantages, genetic similarity to humans, inexpensive maintenance, short reproductive cycle and more. It is a powerful tool for biomedical research from preclinical or toxicological testing to aquaculture. Xenotransplantation, toxicological studies, and genome editing with CRISP/Cas9 technology are our main research areas, which are based on this in vivo model and its numerous advantages.
Additionally our group offer custom research and assay services in support of screening drugs. We can carry out several laboratory assays to study toxicity, safety, and efficacy (biodistribution and xenograft studies) using a zebrafish model. We have advanced technology in confocal microscopy to perform 3D and real-time imaging. On the other hand, we also offer toxicogenomics studies by qPCR and microarrays.
